Now that I have reached my mid 30’s I feel as though cosmetic injectables is what I have needed to keep my skin, face and complexion youthful - that’s what we all want right? In my mid 20’s I always knew I wanted to have cosmetic injectables to act as a preventative treatment to getting fine lines and wrinkles. I would book consultations at clinics and we would discuss treatment options, but without ever going through with it. The thought of needles being injected into my face made me so anxious, plus I was fearful of the unknown. It was a big thing to do back then, nowadays people are getting cosmetic injectables just as easily as if they were going through with brow waxing. It’s just not a major thing anymore, it was time to start doing some research and lock something in!
I was looking for familiarity, credibility and someone I could make a connection with. I reached out to a cosmetic practice who had surgically removed a mole from my face a few years earlier, being really happy with the results. I found a cosmetic nurse there, however, it turned out that she had moved on from the practice. I then searched for her on Instagram as you do and I found her. She had a great social media presence, good following and I could see from her posts that she had treated b-grade local celebrities, and her engagement was strong. This made me comfortable, so I reached out to her.
I paid my booking deposit and I was scheduled for the following Saturday. What put me at ease is that she was practising from a medical clinic, her face was glowing, youthful, plump and fresh. She didn’t look a day older than me, although I knew she was much older. She was so calming and empathetic after expressing my anxiety and we talked through all of my concerns and the natural look I was after. Being my first time, I didn’t want it to look like I was frozen in time with no facial expression, I wanted to be as natural as possible. She recommended a less common product, as she described it as providing a more natural look. She administered under 10 injections in smaller doses to only the areas of concern I raised with her after numbing my face with icepacks - it was a very good first-time experience, I was so happy and the results were amazing. With the lesser known product, you can feel it working straight away which means you can also see the results straight away. I felt as though I had knocked off 3 years in 30 seconds - WOW! Weeks went by and I was absolutely happy with the results.
However, one integral step was missed in the process which took away all trust I had built with her during this experience. On my way home from the appointment, in the car, when all my anxiety had fizzled away I realised, this nurse never asked me if I was allergic to anything?! In fact, I did not sign one patience form, AT ALL. There was no doctor who came in mid consultation as I had heard of happening, no skype meeting, NOTHING. I lost all trust in this cosmetic nurse and although the results were incredible, it was an integrity thing for me, I just couldn’t go back.
After 6 months the product had worn off and I was on the hunt for another cosmetic nurse. I decided again to search on Instagram. I came across a clinic who had an exceptional following and online presence along with the cosmetic injector being a doctor himself. There was no fee upon booking a consultation so off I went.
The clinic was modern and professional, I had been provided alot of information and reading material upfront which made me feel comfortable. Needles was no longer the problem, it was integrity and trust. I needed trust. The doctor was very patient with me and quite personable and we spoke about my cosmetic concerns and desire to achieve a very natural look - all to which he was able to confidently provide his medical opinions and observations. However, he was taking his time getting to the punch line, I wanted numbers as he had suggested injections to almost every part of my face. I know that the cosmetic term is units, but I work in needles - how many needles was he recommending? He was recommending 20 - 25 injections of normal doses (not smaller ones like I had before)! It most certainly did not sound like a natural look to me and the cost was triple to what I had paid the previous nurse. I was completely outraged, and it was very clear that he wanted to go right ahead on the spot.
I told him that I would think about it and get back to him. Partly because of the cost, yes, however, more so this doctor did not listen to what I wanted, he was prepared to go all out and took advantage of my vulnerability so he could fill my face and his pockets. Trust gone!
I now see Tugba, a new personal friend of mine who has presented so professionally, is empathetic and has listened to my concerns and treated accordingly. We have worked together over time to achieve a natural look and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I’ve had the most common product injections by Tugba to a few areas of concern, mainly my forehead and “crows feet”. The injections start working closer to the 10 day mark after being injected, not as quickly as the first product I had used, from my experience. Initially I did want to go with the first product I used because of how happy I was with the results the first time, however I was encouraged to give the more common product a go as it lasts much longer. I’ve been pleased with my overall experience with Tugba and I truly believe that patient care is the driving motivation behind Tugba’s success as a Cosmetic Nurse.
Thank you Tugba!
